Have you ever been to a retreat, spent hours crafting a vision, mission and goals, get all fired up by the promise of a better future, only to return to work to a “same-old, same-old” mindset. Nothing seems to have changed or shifted as a result of the retreat…
This scenario is what inspired Igniting Possibility Coaching to design retreats where authentic conversations can take place. Before any change or shift can occur, underlying team relationship dynamics and unspoken communications need to be addressed.
At the retreat itself, the style of faciliation needs to go to the heart of the matter, instead of remaining on a surface level where everyone remains in their comfort zones.
At Igniting Possibility Coaching, our approach consists of pre-retreat, retreat and post-retreat elements, and has the following objectives:
- Create a vision that engages retreat participants in an authentic and sustainable way
- Enable retreat participants to experience the Three Laws of Performance, and understand the cause of non-performance
- Create a community that profits from the diversity of gifts/talents, commitments and is willing to take ownership for the future of the organization
- Coach stakeholders to achieve their goals after the retreat
These lead to outcomes such as the following:
- The use of a coach-approach to facilitation enables participants to uncover their blind spots that get in the way of performance, and creates a new context for performance
- An authentic vision is generated by participants that are truly engaged and committed to the organization’s success
- The coach-approach invites participants to go beyond disempowering viewpoints to working with what’s possible
- The post-retreat coaching ensures sustainability of the organization’s vision
